ENCOUNTER - THE NEW NAME FOR HEALING THROUGH WORSHIP
Healing through Worship has been running now for three years. As many of us have journeyed together, we have begun to understand better the word 'healing', that although God heals physically, more often than not it's about healing of the whole person - mind, soul and spirit - and often it's about all of these at the same time!
We have discovered that healing is not so much about illness as about complete freedom. It's about receiving and living the abundant life Jesus won for us on the cross; freedom from illness, yes, but also freedom from everything else that hinders us from moving forward in our lives. It's about the discovery of gifts and finding God's purpose for our lives.
We have decided to acknowledge what God is doing by renaming this service Encounter.
Our aim, first and foremost is to seek God, to gain a sense of His presence and to encounter Him. This can be done through worship, which brings us into His presence; through Bible teaching, an opportunity to hear the truth which sets us free; through testimony, which acknowledges what Jesus is doing today, encourages us in our faith and helps us to travel together; through prayer, to receive the healing, freedom and empowering Jesus promises; and through being still, time to be with Jesus.
Encounter sessions for the remainder of 2008 will take place at 7.30pm on the second Friday in each month at Plymouth Methodist Central Hall. Please note that there is no session in August. Dates for the meetings are 13 June, 11 July, 12 September, 10 October, 14 November and 12 December.
