Called to ministry?

It was many years ago that God prompted me to become a minister.  I had never preached a sermon and had only been a Christian for a couple of years - but I had this nagging feeling I could not escape.

It is always a joy to meet people who are on that same journey.  For different people the promptings of God come in all sorts of different ways.  You may be prompted by friends.  You may have a nagging feeling you cannot escape, possibly both!.  I know one person who had a vision of Christ whilst in a pedalo on a boating lake!

Methodist ordained ministry comes in two types - Deacons and Presbyters.  You can find more information here.  Deacons are all itinerant - that is they are paid, housed and willing to move anywhere in the country.  Presbyters, what we used to call 'ministers', can be paid or self-supporting, itinerant or static.

Steve Jones, our District Training Officer, Mike Parsons, our Candidates for ministry secretary and any of the ministers in the district will be glad to help you begin to explore a call to ordained ministry.  Why not ring us at the district office - 01392 211624 or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
